I have such fond memories of going to Big Bear Lodge as a child. Each summer, we would spend a few weeks in big bear and we always had the best time. I thought this place was awesome as a kid and I still think it is now. A lot of parents like bringing their kids over here.
My parents never came to the big bear lodge without us. Now I get to take my kids with me whenever I can so that they can enjoy the same experiences that I did and have wonderful memories from when they were kids.
I got invited to go hunting with a friend from work last
weekend. I?m not a huge hunter but the weather was especially nice for November
so I thought it would be great way to spend a Saturday morning. The great thing
about living here is that it only take a 30 minute drive in any direction and
you can be out away from everybody.
Although it was difficult to wake up at 6
am on Saturday morning it was totally worth it. We did not shoot a single duck
which was kind of disappointing. Dave brought his dog and showed off his new gps dog collar. The thing was pretty dang cool. I had no idea that these high
tech gps collars even existed. Dave said that it had already saved him a number
of hours tracking down his sometimes rambunctious dog.
One of the best times I’ve ever had was when I went fly fishing Key West. To me it’s simply the cadillac of fishing. Just me against the fish. No belts. No harnesses. No fighting chairs. Just getting chauffered around the flats and spending a day looking for those elusive shadows and tails breaking the top of the water as they retreat hunting their prey.
Why was it the best day? Well, it’s the only day and only time I have ever been successful hitting the “grand slam” of fishing. Yep, a hefty little permit, a sleek looking bonefish and a little tarpon. The permit was definitely the best of the bunch for me as it was really the heaftiest of the bunch, went about 20 pounds. The bonefish was a bagger in any book. Could’ve been better on the tarpon end as this one was a juvenille and really barely made 10 pounds ( if you stretched it). That’s ok though, a slams a slam.
