Finally got my CNA license

By , November 11, 2009

I think this was one of the worst experiences in my life. Because I do not want to give this place a bad name I will fail to mention where I got my training. I moved to Houston about 2 years ago and wanted to get in the field of nursing. I have had the same old job at a local grocery store for the last few years and wanted to get into a better field.

I thought becoming a CNA would pay me a little more money and help me to experience what it is like cleaning up after people and helping those who have serious medical conditions. Therefore I went to get my CNA training in Houston. Things could have gone a lot better because as soon as I got there, there were people who had no business in this field there to get the same training.

Now I am not judging people based on just looks, but some of the people who were wanting to be CNA’s were rude, and sent off horrible vibes about the kind of people they would be with those who needed care.

I think this is one of the main reasons that I wouldn’t ever want to be in a nursing home, or in a hospital that hired these people. I believe that becoming a Nurse assistant is a lot of responsibility, and if you can’t deliver the traits desires then you need to look for another occupation.

To make a long story short, I got the license, and I am off to my first interview next Monday. I will let you all know how it goes.

Im Considering A New Health Career

By , September 16, 2009

Well, I have been looking at options in the health industry, and I may have fallen on something that is decent. If I get into the Surgical field, I can make decent money, and I can do most of my schooling online which is what I have been wanting.

I know that most people working in the health care industry say that this filed doesn’t pay as much as a nurse, but it definitely is a needed type of job. Recently my wife got layed off from her job as a florist, so its been a little hard lately. Even though she went to school for biology, most of those jobs require you to start by working nights, and I just don’t want to put her through being the money maker at this point in time.

So after looking at the surgical technician salary I came to the decision to at least give it a shot. The cost for online training is just a fraction of the cost of going to school at a regular college, and I can take most of these courses whenever I need too. I think this will be a turning point in my life, and with a baby in our minds, I know the job market isn’t going to get any easier any time soon.

I also took a look at some MRI technician programs and thought about that too, but then realized that sometimes they require you to have good grades from high school to even join the class since they get filled up with students so fast. So Surgical technician career, here I come!

Patrick Died Today

By , September 15, 2009

Its sad but true, Patrick Swayze died today. People all over the world mourned the loss of 57-year-old actor’s death from pancreatic cancer. Whether you grew up watching movies like Dirty Dancing, or some of the movies that Swayze showed his smooth sides in, its really sad to see him go.

Probably the movie that most people remember him being in however is Ghost. He was a real heart throb in that movie and most women will always remember him as a romantic. His wife whom he loved very much also knows that he is know longer suffering.

He pushed hard to finish his main roles in the show that was running on A&E known as the Beast, but most will always remember him in films like Donnie Darko, and Dirty Dancing which still down to this day gets everyone’s attention as one of the best love movies ever seen.

Cancer is a beast in itself, and I am sure that a lot of people out three right now are feeling the pain of their very own loved ones being eaten away by the ugly plague. There are so many things in this world that bring suffering to may, and cancer is definitely one of them. Why wish the best for Patricks wife and family as they go through this tough time after the downturn of their husband and Fathers health.

Infection is on the rise

By , August 11, 2009

After reading an article about disease and other deadly viruses that have been killing people lately, I thought I would do an article that we can all relate with. While its quite easy to see why there are so many people upset about all the differen’t types of killers out there today, I would say that much of what we see in modern times have been around for a long time already.

One in particular is the MRSA virus which is deadly and accounts for many deaths in hospitals each year. Its also something that is spread while people are in hospitals, and is rarely contracted by those out in public places. While it is something to be scared about, I think the panic level is way too high. The more we worry about these things, the more they will affect us.

Then on top of that there is the swine flue which has also been deadly for a handful of people. And what has the news done? They have blown things out of proportions. They focus on the deaths rather than how many people have gotten it and been cured. If you think negative, then expect more negative things to happen. Our bodies don’t work as well under pressure. The mental aspect I believe also comes into play.

Watching My Health More

By , July 27, 2009

I have been spending more time watching my health now. Its finally time to cut out the cokes and soda pop or else im going to have major kidney stones at some point.  A good friend of mine just had some removed, and she says that it is not a good feeling. So if you are reading this and have not cleaned up your health, you might want to think about 10 years from now, or even 20 years from now how you will be feeling.

They say the US is one of the most over weight countries in the world. It is because of convenience that we have become this way. Maybe if we still had some values and focused on keeping our food free from all the additives, we might be a little better of a country.

It is just sad what they feed kids too now days. Just go into a school and see how bad the food is. Thats our tax dollars at work. I think it starts at home though, and if I have kids I want them growing up as healthy as possible so they can pass on the same values to their children in 30 years from now. Thats my thought.
